Margot – Model Builder

My name is Margot Kenney, and I have always been interested in human rights issues particularly in Latin America. On an immersion trip in 2006 I had the opportunity to spend time with street kids in Peru. That trip changed my perspective in a lot of ways, and it made me want to focus on children’s rights and the roll of children in the context of larger society. I am a student at the University of San Francisco, and I was fortunate enough to have David Batstone as a professor. Through him I began to learn extensively about human trafficking, and although I knew a little bit about it I only knew about sex slavery. Through my research I have learned a lot about this enormous criminal enterprise and at the moment I am helping to build the student movement for the Not for Sale campaign and my hope is to get students from all over the United States and the world interested and involved in the abolition movement. I hold human trafficking to be one of the largest moral crises of our time, and as part of the 1% of the world’s population fortunate enough to go to college I feel that it is not only my vocation but my responsibility to make a difference in every way that I can.
