A note from Devon:

My name is Devon Durst, I am a sophomore here at USF and an Architecture & Community Design major.  I have had an urge to make this world more socially just since I can imagine. My own life-experiences with family and friends, as well as where I have grown up, have really shaped my passion for my fight for social justice.

For Erasmus’ role in the Not For Sale Campaign, I am working as a researcher as well as an occasional interviewer.  More specifically, I currently am working on gathering a list of sex/massage parlors within the San Francisco Area, and am also finding out which parlors have and do not have licenses. I am researching the processes of obtaining business licenses, as well as the process of having them revoked. I will also be contacting battered women’s shelters to find out if they have dealt with women and children, etc. who had been trafficked, as well has telling them what to look out for.

I am also interested in incorporating my studies in architecture into the fight to end slavery. I have read about the need for safe shelters, and so I hope to work with non-profit agencies to design shelters that tend to geographical differences, etc.

Yep!
