A note from Alexis:
I’m a sophomore in the Erasmus Project and joined this community to educate myself about global issues. I want to learn how to lead and help others lead a more socially just lifestyle. I am an exercise and sports science major and play soccer for USF. I plan on using skills I learn from these activities to create a more just environment around me. San Francisco has a lot to offer but also has a lot of areas that can be improved. I feel it is important to work on the community around you first in order to have a larger affect and this is what Erasmus has allowed me to do.
I am working on the Free to Play campaign, which reaches out to children that are forced to work, or forced to have sex, and fight for them to be able to be free to play. One of my goals is to get as many people and teams to make “challenge videos,” in order to raise awareness and money to free these children from slavery. The videos are a way to incorporate each individual’s passion and talent and for the benefit of someone else. My goal is to spread awareness and gain support for this campaign any way I can; whether it be hosting events, getting groups to adopt this campaign, or motivating individuals to create challenge videos. This project is very exciting and I have learned a lot already about what it takes to be a leader and make a difference.
